The First

Your blogmeister is a big fan of stuff that happened a Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

Here's the cover art for the very first Star Wars novel. My Dad bought this book for me back in the day, though at the time I was still just a kid and found it heavy-going. Never did finish it back then. Sadly, it up and disappeared... went *poof* and became one with the Force, like Obi-Wan. I've since replaced it with a more recent printing and finally read the whole dang thang, but the loss of that original still stings, 'cuz, well... it was a gift from Dad.

Anyhoo, the book was written by Alan Dean Foster, and isn't too awful bad. The story is a bit inconsistent with the flicks, because it was written before 'Empire', and it had yet to be revealed who Vader really was. So you gotta kinda wince a bit here and there when reading this thing. Nonetheless, it's a pretty good story and well-penned.

The artwork is the true highlight of the book for yours truly, as it was done by the man, the myth, the legend, Ralph McQuarrie.

Don't know the name?
